This weather is rekindling my love for Orangina. And I only just found out that it was first sold in Algeria, which makes my old claim that ‘Orangina was made for hot weather’ literally true - north African hot weather, to be exact.
Also, fisheye camera vs. suspension bridge was a bit of genius. And 11 a.m. me vs. people on their way to church was also surprisingly decent. I used to dislike Sundays and find them all kinds of melancholy, but unintentionally passing three separate churches this morning actually made me realise how good and happy with my own atheistic state I now am. I’d never want to hi-jack those church-goers and take their religion and God and heaven from them because I’m well aware that religious faith done intelligently can be a lot more admirable than agnosticism/atheism based on a ‘well it’s obvious religion’s all a lie’ first principle that puts in no more thought than that - but at the same time as I’m being this reasonable I can have my own fun with my godless Sundays. And so while they sat indoors on wooden pews hearing sermons I sat outdoors at a metal table drinking coffee and reading Kierkegaard - no, I don’t resent those people their religion, but nor do I resent my own atheism. I too can dress up in nice clothes on a Sunday morning and put real full-hearted thought into intimidatingly massive concepts - but while theirs involves priests and prayer mine is led by caffeine and cafes drenched in sunlight.
